Remedies Mosquito Bites

Mosquitoes flock to me as if I’m made out of candy. Throughout my childhood, I would spend many summer nights playing outside with my friends until it was too dark to see.

Unfortunately, this often led to me being completely covered in mosquito bites. I have tried so many different remedies to sooth the itch of mosquito bites, but many seemed to work only for a few moments and then I would be back to scratching.

Before I knew it, I would have scabs all over my legs and arms. Luckily, there were a few remedies that seemed to work really well. All of these remedies are affordable and do a wonderful job at taking care of itchy mosquito bites.

Affordable Remedies for Mosquito Bites #1: Benadryl Products

Benadryl makes more than just wonderful allergy medications. They also make creams, gels, and sprays that sooth the itch of mosquito bites.

These are all wonderful remedies that are more than affordable. I used these remedies quite often to relief the itch of mosquito bites, but there are a few things you need to be aware of.

First of all, if you take Benadryl for your allergies, you will not be able to use these products in combination with that medication.

Also these remedies can leave your skin feeling a little sticky. But, they do their job.

If you have already scratched at your skin until it has broken, you need to be aware that some of these remedies can sting. These remedies cost around $3-4.

Affordable Remedies for Mosquito Bites #2: Calamine Lotion

Calamine lotion has been used to sooth the itch of poison ivy for quite some time, but it’s also a great way to sooth itchy mosquito bites.

Unlike several other remedies for mosquito bites, calamine lotion does not feel sticky. It dries to your skin and helps to dry out the mosquito bite.

This affordable option does come with one downside though. You will have to be okay with having pink spots all over you body and will have to wait for it to dry before sitting down or you’ll have pink furniture as well.

Calamine lotion can be found at your local dollar store for around $2.

Affordable Remedies for Mosquito Bites #3: Rubbing Alcohol

I may have tried several different remedies for mosquito bites, but by far rubbing alcohol is the best and most affordable of all the remedies.

Why is rubbing alcohol so great for mosquito bites? Rubbing alcohol dries out the mosquito bite in a matter of minutes. Also, you don’t have to worry about having pink spots or sticky skin.

You do have to worry about putting alcohol on broken skin because it will sting, but of course it won’t hurt you. This affordable remedy will only cost around $0.50!

Please read the instructions before applying any of these remedies to your skin!
